Palestine / History, civilian harm & individual stories
The people affected by the genocide in Palestine, the history behind it and the evidence of civilian harm.
Our advocacy is explicitly anti-Zionist and opposes Israeli state policies and military conduct. It is not hostility toward Jewish people. Factual reporting and casualty records are identified separately from editorial interpretation.
The UN General Assembly’s 1947 partition proposal, the displacement of Palestinians during the 1948 war and the occupation that began in 1967 are central to this history. In its July 19, 2024 advisory opinion, the International Court of Justice found Israel’s continued presence in the occupied Palestinian territory unlawful. That opinion addresses Israel’s policies and practices; it is not a criminal verdict against an individual.

Source record ↗Reported totals depend on the reporting system and its definitions. They do not capture all indirect deaths, and a total is not the same as a list of identified people.
The named records below link to the reporting and documents about each person. Those accounts help explain individual lives and events; they cannot establish an overall death toll.
A July 2024 Lancet correspondence discussed a possible eventual toll of 186,000 or more direct and indirect deaths, including deaths from disrupted health care, hunger and disease. It was an illustrative extrapolation, not an observed death count, a verified list of people or today’s toll.

People reported missing may later be identified among those recorded dead. Missing-person reports cannot simply be added to a death count without checking identities, overlaps and subsequent confirmations.
Aaron believes the loss of life may be vastly undercounted and considers it possible that hundreds of thousands have died or remain missing or unaccounted for. This is his assessment, not a verified toll or a claim that a particular number of bodies has been located.
Displacement, damaged health services and the loss of journalists and medical workers threaten civilian survival and make deaths harder to document. Tech For Palestine’s source notes distinguish directly reported casualties from deaths related to hunger, disease and disrupted care.
The records below follow documented individuals. Each account identifies the person’s outcome when known; the collection is not an exhaustive list of people killed.
