What happened

Kenneth Robledo was fatally shot by a member of a U.S. Marshals fugitive task force in Northeast Philadelphia on December 12, 2016, outside a home on Hellerman Street. Investigators said the task force was watching a basement apartment to arrest Robledo on a warrant relating to a July shooting in which another man had been wounded. When Robledo emerged with a woman, police reported that he carried a handgun, pointed it toward officers and ignored commands to put it down. A deputy U.S. marshal fired several shots, striking him fatally. Authorities stated that a recovered handgun had an obliterated serial number. Neighbor Frankie Nieves described hearing gunfire and seeing Robledo on the ground afterward. Both Philadelphia police and federal marshals were involved in reviewing the confrontation. The claims about Robledo's possession and positioning of the gun reflect the law-enforcement account, and the outstanding warrant was an allegation, not a conviction.
