What happened

Redrick Jevon Batiste, 37, died when Houston police SWAT officers shot him on December 7, 2016, during an operation targeting an alleged armored-car robbery crew. Investigators had been tracking several deadly armored-truck robberies and suspected Batiste of planning a new attack against a Loomis courier at an Amegy Bank. Federal prosecutors later described how surveillance and a monitored vehicle enabled officers to stage an ambush before the robbery took place.
