What happened

Jamarion Rashad Robinson, 26, was shot 76 times by officers on a U.S. Marshals fugitive task force in East Point, Georgia, on August 5, 2016. Officers said he fired during an attempt to arrest him; his family questioned the extreme gunfire and lack of body-camera footage. Officers Eric Heinze and Kristopher Hutchens were indicted in Fulton County in October 2021 on charges including felony murder, and both pleaded not guilty. In August 2026 a federal judge dismissed the criminal prosecution, finding that the officers were immune from state charges because they were performing federal duties. His mother Monteria called for further review. The indictment was not a conviction, and the 2026 dismissal is the latest documented criminal disposition.
