What happened

Henry Green V, 23, was killed by two plainclothes Columbus police officers in the South Linden neighborhood on June 6, 2016. Officers Zachary Rosen and Jason Bare were driving an unmarked vehicle when they encountered Green and a companion walking along the street. The officers said Green displayed and later pointed a gun at them; witnesses and his family disputed important details, arguing that the officers initiated a dangerous confrontation. His mother Adrienne Hood brought a federal civil-rights lawsuit. The Sixth Circuit examined the conflicting evidence and allowed claims to proceed. After trial, a federal jury found that the officers' use of deadly force was reasonable under the circumstances. The contested encounter and ultimate jury finding are distinct parts of the record.
