What happened

Tyre Privott, 25, was killed by Norfolk, Virginia, officers during an attempted arrest on March 11, 2016, after a fatal shooting the previous night. Detectives said they had identified Privott as a suspect in the death of Chaz Hall, 24, who had been found shot on East Ocean View Avenue. Police secured murder and firearms warrants and broadcast Privott's description to officers. The subsequent confrontation resulted in Privott's death from police gunfire. That underlying murder allegation had not been tried and cannot be treated as a conviction. The Norfolk department's official archive documents the warrant investigation; a separate full forensic and prosecutor reconstruction of Privott’s final encounter was not confirmed in the reporting reviewed.
