What happened

Cedric Larry Ford, 38, was killed by Harvey County sheriff's officers at Excel Industries in Hesston, Kansas, on February 25, 2016, after a shooting rampage. Authorities said Ford fired at motorists at several locations, then entered his workplace and shot colleagues, killing three people and wounding numerous others. Sheriff T. Walton and responding officers confronted Ford at the factory and killed him during an exchange of gunfire, ending the attack. The documented deaths and injuries to workers must be included when describing the police response; this was not a routine unarmed encounter. Investigators later examined possible motives and access to weapons, but Ford was never tried because he died at the scene.
