What happened

Terrozza Tyree Griffin, 30, was fatally shot by Lansing police officers on December 24, 2015, after a confrontation near the 500 block of North Pennsylvania Avenue. Investigators said officers responded to reports of a disturbance and encountered Griffin during an attempted arrest. The police version described a struggle and an apparent weapon threat; his family called for answers about the decision to use lethal force. Michigan State Police were asked to review the incident. The Washington Post database confirms his death and the Lansing department's involvement, but the contemporary material examined does not establish a court ruling or prosecutor's final account of each shot. The claimed threat remains attributed to police rather than treated as a trial finding.
