What happened

Rolly Thomas, 34, was shot and killed by Cape Coral police on October 24, 2015, after a domestic-violence complaint involving the home of his estranged partner, Marsha Alexander. Police said an active no-contact injunction barred him from visiting. Responding officers first arrived after Thomas left, then returned to another domestic disturbance call. In June 2016, the department announced that the State Attorney's Office and internal review had found the involved officer's use of deadly force justified. The publicly documented investigation provides the department's account and review outcome; it does not erase the significance of how officers handled the domestic-violence response or make every initial report an independently tested fact.
