What happened

Brandon Lamar Johnson, 28, was shot and killed by West Virginia State Police during a pursuit on Interstate 64/77 near Beckley in late September 2015. Troopers said Johnson, a Georgia resident sought in connection with the killing of his co-worker Pamela Harmon, drove away after police tried to stop him. Officers deployed road spikes and stopped the vehicle. State Police said Johnson exited with a handgun and pointed it toward troopers, who opened fire. Johnson died at Raleigh General Hospital. The murder allegation involving Harmon was unresolved in court because Johnson died; it is a reported investigative accusation, not a conviction. The police account of the final confrontation is separately attributed.
