What happened

Thaddeus Faison, 39, died after exchanging gunfire with Troy police officers in the Lansingburgh area of New York on August 22, 2015. Officers Joshua Comitale and Chad Klein were wounded in the confrontation; Faison was shot repeatedly and died after transport to St. Mary's Hospital. Relatives and friends spoke about his life and questioned the circumstances as police investigated the shootout. A Rensselaer County grand jury later declined to indict an involved officer in November 2015. The officers' injuries, documented armed confrontation, and later grand-jury finding are material context; declining charges does not turn every initial claim about the sequence of events into independently proven fact.
