What happened
Bryan Keith Day, 36, was shot by Las Vegas police on July 25, 2015, after officers answered a report of assault or robbery at apartments on East Charleston Boulevard. According to police, Day emerged carrying a pellet-style handgun and fired at Officer Keith McIntyre, injuring his face. McIntyre and fellow officers John Squeo and Christopher Gowens returned fire, killing Day. The Clark County district attorney's office completed a formal use-of-force report in May 2016 and determined that the officers' actions were legally justified. The report documents the charging decision; the fact that Day carried a pellet gun rather than a conventional handgun remains material to understanding the encounter.
