What happened

Nineteen-year-old Isiah Hampton was killed by New York City police on June 10, 2015, during a response to a reported domestic-violence incident on Valentine Avenue in the Bronx. Police said Hampton held his former girlfriend at gunpoint when officers entered the apartment. Two responding officers discharged approximately 25 shots in the confrontation, and Hampton died after being transported to St. Barnabas Hospital. The former girlfriend was also wounded; investigators said they were examining whether an officer's gunfire had struck her. Contemporary reporting documents the police allegations and the significant number of shots fired, but the reviewed article does not establish the ultimate ballistics finding or any later disciplinary or court disposition. Those investigative uncertainties should remain explicit rather than be replaced by an assumed outcome.
