What happened
Chrislon Talbott, 38, was shot by police in Owensboro, Kentucky, after a standoff at a Motel 6 during a multiagency drug investigation on May 20–21, 2015. Owensboro police and Kentucky State Police approached Talbott's room, where a woman was also present. Authorities said Talbott refused to come out; officers formed a perimeter and brought in hostage negotiators rather than immediately entering. Police later stated that Talbott emerged after midnight and fired toward officers, who returned fire. Talbott was taken to a hospital and died.
