News reports describe a sexual assault at the AEPi fraternity house near the University of Chicago on October 11, 2026. Friends said they tried to reach the woman in a bathroom while men outside allegedly cheered or blocked them, according to ABC7 and WBEZ.

In an October 13 update, the university said it had identified and banned a person of interest who was not university-affiliated, shared evidence with Chicago Police and begun a separate policy review. AEPi denied that its members were involved.

Some coverage draws on a police incident report; other reports include direct interviews with the friends who say they intervened. The original police report has not been obtained here, so those details remain attributed to the reporting.
